SHOWER CURTAIN PROJECT

When we return from April Vacation, we have 2 1/2 weeks until the WHAP exam and we will shift into review mode. This year I am going to be trying something different from the Megachart II. The Shower Curtain Project has both an individual and group component and is directly tied into activities that will occur in class. Here is an overview of the project description:

1. INDIVIDUAL (due 5/2):  Each student is responsible for creating 10 Identification Cards based on the study guides from Periods 4-6. These should be approx 3x5 cards with a beautifully detailed Identification on one side and a historically relevant image with the name of the key term on the other. These need to be laminated. You should make 3 cards per ID so 30 total. Each ID Card should include:
                                         Period:
                                         AP Region:
                                         Date of Event:
                                         Civilization(s) involved:
                                         Description: Detailed historical evidence
                                         Significance:

I will assign ten terms to each student. You may swap and trade if you would prefer to do a different ID, but YOU are responsible for the IDs I give to you.

3. CCOT POSTER PROJECT (or back of shower curtain) (Due 5/15):  We need groups of 3 in each class. On a poster OR the back of the shower curtain you completed for Periods 4-6, you are going to create civilizational timelines, like I have created for China on my board in class. These timelines should include relevant information from all 6 Periods and be organized spatially in a manner that reflects the geographic locations of these civilizations.

Step 1. Group brainstorm list of civilizations per region to be addressed.
                                                     LINK to Brainstorm Chart
Step 2. Assign experts. Each group member should become a regional
I would roughly assign Americas, Asia (2 pp.), Africa
Step 3. Review, Research and Create civilizational timelines on paper.
Step 4. Use permanent markers to transfer timelines onto the back of the
                                       shower curtain.
Step 5.  Beautify and detail: Along with each timeline, include sketches,
images, or terms that exemplify a key concept, event, building or
historical figure for that civilization and time-frame.
